When My Head Is Bowed

In the stillness of the evening
At the close of another day
The stars twinkle in heaven
As I bow my head to pray

I thank Him for my life
For my family and my friends
For simple joys, enduring strife
And love that never ends.

I ask He keep us from all harm
Those to me that are most dear
To protect them in His loving arms
Never knowing hunger or fear.

May they receive His peace and love
Helping others everyday
Being comforted by their faith
Each night, when I bow my head to pray.

By Debra

man seeks
happiness in
the distance,
the wise
grows it
under his feet."

James Oppenheim
